In the novel written by William Shakespeare, "The Taming of the Shrew" it focuses on many aspects of love. One being romantic love and/or love at first sight. There are many films nowadays that focus on that topic and an example can be "My Sassy Girl" directed by Yann Samuell. A story about Charlie Bellow who randomly meets a woman named Jordan Roark and falls in love with her at first sight when Charlie is speaking to his friend Leo about finding a girl. With that, it is portrayed that with love at first sight, isn't romantic but just more that a man can play dating as a game. Like in "The Taming of the Shrew" how those men placed bets with one another as of who can get wed, in "My Sassy Girl" Leo is trying to find a woman for Charlie to have sex with.

With Charlie and Leo are discussing the amount of women Charlie has slept with, Leo begins to recommend to date or just to encourage Charlie to pursue a woman. Leo is then acting like Gremio from "Taming of the Shrew" by asking Hortensio if he'd like to wed any woman. Just as it occurred in "The Taming of the Shrew" when Gremio spoke in Act.I. Sc.I, he said "To cart her, rather. She's too rough for me.--There,there, Hortensio, will you wife any?" and Leo says to Charlie "Meantime, we should probably just try to cheer ourselves up with the happier things. Like sex." So the quote both make it seem like love at first sight is rather simple, whether it be to get a woman in bed or to wed. Generally, it's the same concept of romantic love and love at first sight, which is rather arrogant for the men.

From the image above is seen Charlie and Leo speaking together. Leo is talking to Charlie about cheering him up by picking out women, Leo is in a sense a womanizer by speaking of sleeping with whomever he sees as if it's easy. Just like Gremio, Lucentio, and Hortensio spoke of wedding women like it's nothing. Thus sparking, the moment that Charlie spots the girl he desires to have, Jordan Roark. Then the two encounter each while Jordan is drunk and leaning over the subway railing, endangering herself. Charlie then grabs her and pulls her over the railing.

"O Tranio, till I found it to be true, I never thought it possible or likely, but see, while idly I stood looking on, I found the effect of love-in-idleness,...Assist me, Tranio, for I know thou wilt."

Act.1.Sc.1 Line 150

This is from Lucentio speaking to Tranio about his "love at first sight" encounter with Bianca. Then starts, his determination to dress up as a school teacher for Bianca and then accomplishing his goal of wedding her. He went as far as to impersonate someone to romance Bianca, just like Charlie was determined enough to give Jordan a good birthday by sneaking her into a closed amusement park. But also, endangering her when the plans go wrong and they're hijacked by an AWOL soldier.

Then the soldier asks their relation and Charlie says that they're "just friends" and Jordan gives a glare at him instantly. After the dilemma is resolved she brings it back up and then states "Well, if we're just friends. Then we're seeing each other, right?" and implying that the two are dating. Eventually, throughout the movie conflict arises between the two and they endure various hardships and become and official couple, just as Lucentio became a couple with Bianca.
